Men: 5 (good) reasons not to cut your hair yourself

Have you had enough of regularly going to the barbers for trims, and prefer to do it yourself? Bad idea gentlemen – here are 5 reasons why!

1. You don’t know the correct techniques

Cutting your hair is one thing, but trying to become a hair stylist is another! Only the specialist eye and cutting skill of a professional will give you a haircut which is perfectly suited to your head and the shape of your face.

2. You don’t have eyes in the back of your head

It is difficult to successfully create a stylish haircut blind! If you try to do it yourself, you will not be able to see the hair at the nape of your neck properly. Cutting your hair by yourself is risky business if you don’t want any mishaps.

3. Any mistakes when cutting will show when your hair grows out

When you have just cut your hair, it may look like a complete success… However, beware as looks can be deceiving: you may get a nasty surprise as any mistakes made when cutting will soon become apparent when your hair grows out.

4. You risk ending up with a completely shaved head

When you cut a few sections a bit too short, you have no other option than to even out the whole hairstyle so it goes unnoticed. If you are clumsy when cutting, the crew cut is a foregone conclusion to compensate for any damage done!

5. You are likely to cut yourself!

Whether you use scissors or a shaver, if you have not properly mastered the techniques and you can’t really see what you are doing, mishaps and slips of the hand are quick to occur along with nicked skin. Watch out for your ears!
