70s vibes: the inspiration behind the Rock My City collection
The 70s look wasn’t the pre-planned theme for the Rock My City collection. However, as our stylists worked hard perfecting their new cuts and colors, it soon became clear that this iconic era was a key influence behind the looks. Ready for your rock-chic makeover?
The hairstyle in the new collection immediately takes us back to the 70s. ‘During this period, hard rock became mainstream with men wearing long lengths and fringes spotted left, right and center. These two influences have been transformed into a stylish women’s look for winter 2014’.
Thanks to the strong ties with the 70s, the new styles in the look-book are ideal for women needing a style overhaul. ‘We all need a new look from time to time! Whilst the 20s remind us of delicate kiss-curls and the 60s bring the Beatles to mind, it’s the 70s that gets us thinking of the Peace and Love movements that were popular at the time. Think flower power!’
In previous years, trends tended to last a couple of years and remained on-trend for an extended period of time. ‘This has completely changed nowadays. Hairstyle trends seem to chop and change around every 6 months. And, since everyone likes to experiment with their look, it’s inevitable that old fashions become new ones again, reminding us of the past’.
The 70s were a creative decade. ‘But, they were also renowned for freedom and a sense of modernity…two things our generation can certainly identify with. The updated hairstyles in the collection are more refined and have been given a new lease of life’.
Our advice: Head to your nearest Jean Louis David salon and transform your look into a 70s bombshell! Simple to create, you can alter this hairstyle depending on your individual tastes. Anything goes, including curls and straight locks.
