Men: looking after grey hair

Decided to let your grey hair have its way? You’ll need to make sure you look after it for a perfect colour with white or steel-grey tones. Follow our advice from the pros.

With grey hair there’s one thing you need to watch out for: yellow tinges. “Yellow tinges are the worst fear of people with grey hair. To stop them from appearing, use a blue shampoo. Used every other week, this product will get rid of any unsightly tinges. However, this shampoo only has a superficial effect, it is not a treatment. That’s why you shouldn’t use it too often. And don’t leave it on too long or you’ll end up with hints of blue in your hair!”

When hair turns grey it tends to change. “When grey hair starts to appear, it looks different from the rest of your hair. It’s up to you to adapt your products to deal with this change. In any case, grey hair is no more fragile than other hair, quite the opposite in fact.”

For healthy-looking grey hair, you want your hair to shine. “Grey hair can look somewhat metallic, which is a very attractive look. To get your hair to do this, use products such as serums or styling products with a glossy finish.”

Our tip: When your hair starts to turn grey, don’t presume that colouring it is the best way of making it look more even. Quite the opposite. “To do this you’d have to bleach your hair, which can cause quite a lot of damage. And you’ll never manage to achieve the same grey as your natural hair, so it could end up looking quite strange!”
