Hairstyle: is 2016 the end of the middle parting?

Deceptively conventional, old-school or retro… the middle parting is indisputably a classic. It has travelled down the ages and structures all styles! Is this still the case in 2016? We tell you everything!

Is the middle parting still on trend in 2016?

Yes! The middle parting has been a must-have look on the catwalks during the 2016 Spring-Summer Fashion Weeks. It’s easy to see why as it has got everything going for it: it enhances all haircuts, giving them a symmetrical aspect. Not forgetting that it enhances the eyes, keeps the hair out of the face and highlights contours. Finally, it suits all textures of hair, from straight, wavy and curly to frizzy.

How to wear the middle parting this season?

As seen at the Isabel Marant fashion show, during Paris Fashion Week, combine the middle parting with ultra-smooth straight hair . To obtain the poker straight look, work with clean and perfectly untangled hair. Apply heat protective treatment and straighten it out strand by strand using straighteners. Then, all that’s left is for you to mark out a clear centre parting before applying Fix Spray.

As seen at the House of Holland fashion show, during London Fashion Week, combine your middle parting with a wavy effect. To achieve this, apply Absolute Shine Leave-In thermo-active treatment from the Keratin Therapy range , before using your curling tongs. Then create large curls, by selecting relatively thick strands of hair. Next, loosen them with your fingers to obtain floaty waves. Mark out your centre parting using a fine comb, then apply hairspray to finish.

As seen at the Calvin Klein fashion show, during New York Fashion Week… wear the middle parting with curly hair. If you have naturally cascading curls, you’re lucky! Simply apply Design Mousse to damp hair, before leaving it to air dry. You can also use a diffuser if you don’t have lots of time on your hands. You’ll see, your curls will be soft, shiny and well-defined. Finally, mark out your middle parting, then apply hairspray for maximum hold for hours.
