More than just a trend, DIY is a way of life for some people! There’s nothing more rewarding than making your own photo frame or handbag. When it comes to DIY, your imagination is the only limitation. So why not create a pretty flower crown for a homemade and customised result. 
 
What you need. To create the structure of your crown you’ll need aluminium or steel wire, or artificial ivy stems. For the crown, get your hands on some artificial flowers. This part is entirely up to your imagination, but it’s best to mix big flowers with small flowers. You want something nice and delicate.
 
Flower crown with an ivy structure. Take three artificial ivy stems and plait them together. Place them on your head to get the right length, cut off the excess if necessary, and then tie the ends together using a metal wire (green if you can find one). Now insert your flowers into the plaited ivy stems, mixing the different-sized flowers together and rolling their stems around the ivy stem. Make the front of the crown the main focus and leave the ivy stem visible at the back for a chic and dainty crown.
 
Flower crown with an aluminium wire structure. Create a circle the size of your head with an aluminium or steel wire, wrapping it round your head twice to make your crown nice and solid. Twist the ends around each other to get a perfectly round crown. Take the artificial flowers and wrap their stems around the wire so that it’s completely covered. The flowers should be inserted all the way around your crown. When you’re done, take one of the wires and place it over the flowers to make sure they are held perfectly in place.
 
How to wear the flower crown. The flower crown gives you that instant romantic or bohemian look. Wear it teamed with a long, floaty dress and on deliberately dishevelled hair. Try long, gentle waves on shiny hair or even a loose braid.
