Loose waves for a boho-chic style

Long hair keeps hold of its glamour power status for the new season. While short styles and bobs have successfully shown off their ultra-feminine side, it’s still hard to get bored of long and undulating locks. It’s not just straight hair that gets to have all the fun this autumn-winter! Read on to find out more.

Autumn-Winter 2012 trend. Forget endless layers or thinned hair. This season it’s all about keeping as much substance as possible for hair that is thick and full of movement. Layers are allowed, however, in order to stop your hair from looking too heavy. But they should be subtle and worked into mid-lengths and ends only.

Creating loose waves. Waves are created on dry hair using curling tongs. Wide-barrelled tongs work best – the greater the diameter the larger the waves will be and vice versa. Concentrate on the mid-lengths; the roots and ends are left straight and bouncy. The aim is to achieve ultra-natural-looking waves. Start by applying a curl-defining product. Then create two or three waves at most. To finish, use a serum to add shine and eliminate frizz. This will also help you separate sections of hair to avoid your hairstyle looking too rigid.

Styling with loose waves. It’s best to leave your hair down, that way you can show off your glamorous waves! When you do this, spray a layer of hairspray to protect them from humidity. You can also pin sections up, but lower is better. A low side ponytail is perfect for flaunting your waves. Gather your hair together using your fingers rather than a brush to avoid loosening the waves too much. Tie at the back and let your mid-lengths and ends fall delicately across one shoulder.
