The trend. This style was spotted on the Elie Saab Spring-Summer runway Paris Fashion Week. Models were styled with long lengths, structured thanks to a side parting. These statement lengths were curled into a vintage waves, creating a distinctly retro feel. Of course, locks were super shiny and caught the light from every angle.
Get the look. Vintage curls are one of the easiest curls to wear, although they may not look it. Their timeless appeal makes them perfect for a special occasion when you want to look your best and stand out from the crowd such as a birthday, wedding or important meeting. Take direct inspiration from the runway and pair with an intense, elegant make-up look. In terms of your outfit, opt for chic pieces that are seductive and simple.
Step-by-step tutorial. Create a side parting and apply a heat-protective spray to your lengths. Take your curling iron and wrap large sections around the barrel, making sure to keep even spacing. Hold in place for a couple of seconds then release. Repeat this all over your style, finally brushing out gently with a soft paddle brush. This technique will enable you to create the vintage curls you’re after. Complete the look with a layer of hairspray, finishing with Shine Spray for a glossy end-result.
