When you swim back to shore or climb out of the pool, your hair will be dripping wet. Extreme heat and high temperatures mean that your locks will dry fairly quickly, however which hairstyle should you pick in the meantime? The chignon is our best bet.
 
The trend. As you probably know already, summer 2014 is all about the braid and the chignon. Whilst your hair dries, it’s better to opt for a style that will keep the hair away from the neck and keep you cool. The braid isn’t ideal when it comes to wet locks, however the chignon is the perfect solution to air-drying your wet mane.
 
Prep your hair with product. Just because it’s hot outside and your hair is wet, doesn’t mean you should forgo haircare products. Before creating your chignon, apply Sun Therapy spray to the lengths and ends. Comb through which will help to evenly distribute the product. Only once your hair is sufficiently protected and de-tangled should you start styling your locks.
 
Create a chignon with wet hair. After de-tangling, gather hair at the back of the head. It’s up to you to decide where you want your chignon to sit. For an on-trend look, opt for a top-knot or a low-slung version at the nape of the neck. Try to avoid pulling your chignon too tight and take inspiration from the Bottega Veneta runway (pictured) for a more original, inspiring feel. Finally, once your hair has dried, unravel your chignon to reveal beautiful wavy lengths.
