Which chignons suit mid-length hair?

Many women often refrain from cutting their hair shorter out of fear that they won’t be able to tie it back into a ponytail or bun. However, women with mid-length hair can still create beautiful up-dos and especially chignons. Let’s take a look at some of the best chignon styles for mid-length locks.

With mid-length hair, it is still possible to create a top-knot chignon. ‘The only difference will be that your style will not have as much volume as the same style created with long hair. If you want to create a more voluminous looking top-knot, take a doughnut hair-insert and roll hair up and around for a bigger end-result. You can also try backcombing your hair to add body and volume. The effect will not be identical to the results that long hair can achieve, however the height and size should appear the same’.

Sometimes, however, it’s best to stay away from super-high chignons if your hair is mid-length. ‘You can create an equally as stunning look with a low or side bun. Bobby pins are a must-have when creating a bun or chignon. This will help keep your style in place as long as possible and clip back any flyaways’.

Is your hair currently at the mid-length stage? Always start your chignon by securing a low ponytail at the base of the neck. ‘You will need to create a strong point for the rest of your style to hold on to. It’s essential that your chignon looks stylish as well as staying in place all day long!’

Our advice: Opt for a low side bun if you have mid-length hair. Straighten lengths with a flat iron then secure into a low side ponytail. Section your ponytail into 3, then wrap each section around the base of your ponytail for a more voluminous and texturized end-result. This will create a flower effect which looks beautiful and on-trend.
