Wedding bells: hairstyles for the best man

Wedding season is fast approaching! Although the majority of wedding style advice can often be centred on the bride and her bridesmaids, men also need to look dapper and on-trend for the big day. Discover the top 3 best man hairstyles for 2014.

Voluminous, swept back hair. Last season it was all about slicked back hairstyles, however this look is much too severe for a 2014 wedding. This summer, opt for more unique style by playing up the volume, creating an elegant effect. To create this hairstyle, you will need mid-length hair. Sweep your hair over to one side and comb into a side parting. Lightly brush the rest of your hair backwards, without flattening it down. Keep your locks looking voluminous and full of body by running a lightweight gel throughout the lengths.

Wavy locks. Is Elvis one of your style icons? Without going to extremes and creating a rockabilly quiff, you can still channel his 50s vibe by creating a subtle wave at the very front of your style. This look is perfect if your hair has a natural wave or curl to it, however you can still have a go with straight hair too. Re-create this hairstyle by sweeping your lengths backwards. With the front section, twist into your desired wave shape from the roots upwards. If you need more volume, try backcombing the roots then brush gently with your comb to give it movement.

Side swept. The side-swept effect is still going strong for summer 2014. Mid length hair is the perfect way to show off your side-swept front layers. If you’re looking for a casual, dandy-chic look, this is the style for you. With this hairstyle, it’s not so much the styling that counts but the cut. At your salon appointment, state clearly that you want to keep your lengths at the front fairly long compared to the rest of your hair so that you can create the perfect side-swept fringe. What better way to create an understated, seductive vibe this summer?
