Wearing a tiara every day…a step too far?

Your dreams as a little girl are finally coming true after spotting models on the Ashish runway wearing tiaras. That’s right! Fully grown women wearing diamanté tiaras. Should you be giving this season’s tiaras a go? Let’s take a closer look.

The trend. Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 is all about the hair accessory. The bigger, the better! Whatever your natural hair type and hairstyle, it seems that turbans, crowns, statement hair clips and tiaras are here to stay. To ensure your overall look remains on trend, pair your accessory with a simple outfit in muted tones. Your accessory should take centre stage.

Who can wear the tiara? Anybody whose job and personal style will allow them to wear a tiara regularly. Decorative crowns usually feature crystal or diamanté detailing, making your accessory sparkle and catch the attention of every passer-by. The tiara is a slightly smaller version of the majestic diadem crown, which is commonly worn by the winners of beauty pageants. You’ll need real confidence to pull off this look!

Get the runway look. There are only two ways you should be wearing the tiara: on top of the head or around the forehead. Models on the Ashish runway wore theirs on top of their hairstyles. Ideally you should pair your crown accessory with a loose hairstyle. Start by creating a centre parting. If you really want to nail the runway look, try backcombing or crimping your hair for extra volume. Make your style last as long as possible with a layer of hairspray. Finish your look by placing your tiara behind the ears, as you would with a hairband. Finish by smoothing your tiara over the roots of your locks and wear with pride!
