Want short hair? Ask yourself these important questions first!

Short hair isn’t going anywhere this season, with cropped dos being spotted at almost every runway show. This versatile style enables you to chop and change your look whenever you like. Before you head to your salon to cut off your long locks, ask yourself the following questions to find out if short hair is really for you. The pros reveal their top tips…

Although your face shape shouldn’t dictate whether or not you go for a short hairstyle, it is a good starting point. “It’s difficult to know whether short hair will suit your face shape just looking in your bathroom mirror. Head to your nearest salon and ask your stylist for their professional advice. They will be able to give you an honest opinion on whether you can pull off a short style and advise which version will suit you best’.

Get your hair transformation off to a great start by finding the haircut of your dreams! ‘Cut out a picture of your desired style from a magazine or print out some pictures online. This will help your stylist to better understand what you’re really after, meaning less chance of disappointment. Choose a style based on your individual face shape…layers, pixie crops and long bangs are all possible’.

Tempted to give the short hair trend a go but not 100% convinced? ‘Take baby steps until you get where you want your hair to be. You don’t need to chop everything off at once! Start with a mid-length hairstyle and if you like this short length you can then move on to a bob. Who knows…you might even end up loving the pixie crop!’

Our advice: For women who have had long hair their whole life, deciding to go for the chop can be a difficult choice. Don’t rush into things and ask your friends and family what they think. Which style would suit you best in their opinion? Gather opinions and pictures before committing to a shorter do.
