This season’s must-have: the dishevelled bob

Halfway between wavy curls and straight locks, the dishevelled effect gives hair more volume and body. Up until recently, this look was extremely popular with fans of the neo-grunge trend. But today, this styling technique is gaining admirers by the minute, from fashion bloggers to stylists and even runway models themselves.

Dishevelled hair can work for you. Although dishevelled hair looks great on a bob, this technique actually works with many different hair lengths. It adds volume to fine hair, and is a way of controlling thick hair types too. Messy hair with rock’n’roll flyaways will instantly give your bob a much-needed update. Work the rebel style with a carefree attitude to maximise the impact of this look.

The dishevelled bob. This is one of the hottest looks of the moment right now! You’d think that combining the dishevelled technique with this season’s ‘it’ hairstyle might be overkill, but no. The two combined creates a rock-chick vibe whilst remaining feminine. The ‘just got out of bed’ look is bang on trend, but will still look attractive and girly. This winter, mixing two opposing trends is set to be big news, so mixing a feminine bob hairstyle with relaxed, dishevelled locks is the perfect combo. Whatever your age, the dishevelled bob is your best friend.

Create the dishevelled look. Your best bet is to run a styling mousse through your hair. Take a nut-sized amount of product and apply to your hair. Next, dry with a hairdryer whilst moulding each strand accordingly. Hold each strand with your fingers, twist whilst drying, scrunch, and then release. This is the only way to ensure your style stays put all day and doesn’t drop out. A texturising hair powder will help too, however you may need to re-apply this throughout the day.
