The side parting for extra movement

For the new autumn-winter 2019/2020 “At The Top” collection, Jean Louis David has boosted the volume of hairstyles and added movement, all thanks to a side parting. We take a closer look at this cunning side-swept technique.

Whether you have long, shoulder-length, short, straight, or curly hair, everyone is rocking the side parting this season. Men are also embracing this hairstyle, which cannot be beaten when it comes to boosting the volume of limp, lifeless locks, adding movement or giving a new twist to an overly conventional cut. So, how do you rock this style? You’ll be inspired by all of the new looks from the Jean Louis David collection.

The side parting for long hair

This winter, long hair is being slightly layered and shaped around the face. With regards styling, the locks showcase cascading curls with amplified volume and movement thanks to a side parting. For a natural effect, these large curls are loosened using a wide-tooth comb. Finally, Fix Ultime extra hold hairspray fixes the whole look for a wild, floaty hairstyle that’s sure to attract envious glances.

The side parting for shoulder-length hair

In shoulder-length hair, the side parting is styled to create two different effects:

– XXL blow-drying: here the hair is blow-dried using a round brush and Jean Louis David’s Brush Cream. To preserve volume at the roots, a side parting is marked out. As for the tips, they are flicked outwards.

– The glamorous look: the ’80s are making a comeback with this daring hairstyle. To create this look, the hair is prepped using Jean Louis David’s Perfect Curls before being styled with wide diameter curling tongs. For a more natural look, the curls are then relaxed. The result is a seductive and floaty hairstyle whose volume is boosted by the presence of a side parting.

The side parting for men

For this new season, Jean Louis David men are also embracing the side parting. This on-trend detail structures the bowl undercut and gives it movement. The front section is then side-swept, emphasising the haircut’s asymmetric look.
