The pros: tie your hair up 24/7?

Are you a pro at creating chic chignons, pretty ponytails and fancy fishtail braids? Our pro gives their top tips to keeping your up-dos looking healthy and in peak condition.

Wearing your hair up will not cause damage. ‘There’s no risk of hair becoming damaged, even if you tie your locks up every day. Anything that is natural and non-chemical will not affect the condition of your hair. Of course, if you curled your style before tying it up, your curls may relax throughout the day. However, hair should become supple and soft to the touch as soon as you wash it. You can therefore tie up your hair however often you like; this is also the perfect way to vary your look’.

Don’t be scared of using styling products either. ‘You can apply product to your locks no problem. A walnut sized amount of gel or a layer of hairspray to keep flyaways at bay is completely fine. Nevertheless, you should try to limit how much product you’re using to allow your style to breath. In this case, an excess of products may cause damage. Another key point to consider is your hair tie; always opt for a band that is covered in a soft material, instead of rough elastics that will snag your hair and cause breakages’.

Our advice: Wearing your hair tied up can look great, but try to let your hair down every now and then to relax the hair shaft. It’s down to you to find a cut that enables you to mix up your style, whatever your individual tastes. Why not opt for one of this spring’s must-have hairstyles?
