The crown, from the catwalk to the high street?

Up until now the crown has been exclusively for princesses of royal families. But designers Dolce & Gabbana have decided to bring this luxury accessory to the masses by walking it down the catwalk. Does this mean that people can now wear it on the high street?

The crown on the catwalk. Hair accessories are getting more and more opulent by the season. After chunky jewellery, it’s now the crown’s turn to make its way onto the catwalks. Complemented with gold diamante earrings, the buzz word this winter is: shine! Worn on top of the head like a headband, this season’s crown is worthy of the finest princesses.

What do we keep? If you’re heading to a royalty-themed event, all of it. If you’re heading to the office, none of it. While this accessory is not to be worn day-to-day, the luxurious, royal influence can be enjoyed in small doses. Want to use the trend as inspiration for your everyday style? A headband adorned with a few coloured gems is a great way to add a hint of colour to your post-summer hairstyles.

How to wear it. The crown is dominating enough in itself, so there’s no need to go over the top with your hairstyle. Avoid anything too sophisticated. Just like on the Dolce & Gabbana catwalk, part your hair in the middle and create a strict chignon at the back of your neck. It’s your turn to be a princess for the day!
