Short hairstyles: a no-go zone for curly locks?

Tempted to go for the chop and cut your curly, wavy or frizzy locks into a shorter style? Or, are you afraid that the end-result will not be how you imagined? Our pro gives her top tips and advice to cutting curly hair types into a short hairstyle.

Short hairstyle aren’t just for women with straight hair. ‘Short hair cuts are suitable for all different hair types. If your hair is curly, wavy or frizzy, you should play with texture to get the most out of what you were born with! However, unlike straight hair, you’re style will instantly appear voluminous without all of the hard work generally associated with short, straight hair. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, there’s nothing stopping you from going for the chop’.

There are several different hairstyle choices you could go for, whatever your hair type. ‘The shorter hairstyles featured in the Jean Louis David spring 2015 collection are a great starting point. These include looks that are achievable with several hair types, creating different effects on various levels of curl. Why not try a style with subtle layers and longer sections at the front. Or, a very short boyish crop might be more your thing! For a classic cut, the bob is a timeless look. Experiment with what suits you best and adapt to your individual style’.

Our advice: If your hair is curly or frizzy, make sure you choose a haircut that will enable your hair to fall naturally into place. Ideally, subtle layers will reduce bulk whilst adding volume in all of the right areas. Styling products such as a hair mousse and hairspray will swiftly become a must-have to ensure your new cut looks salon-ready every day.
