Short haircuts to suit your hair type

This season, short haircuts are a big hit for women, the bob especially. Though some people prefer to go a little shorter or keep a bit more length. If you’re wanting to go under the scissors but are unsure which haircut to go for, follow our advice from the pros!

Short haircuts are ideal if you have short hair. “People with straight hair will suit any short haircut. Very short or simply short, depending on what you’re after. This is because straight hair is so easy to style. But be careful not to go too short if your hair is too straight. Otherwise it will stick up and you’ll find it difficult to style.”

As well as hair type, the short haircut you go for can also depend on your hair growth and texture. “Flexible hair is a lot easier to work with than hair whose texture is more difficult to manage. What’s more, if you are prone to cowlicks, this can ruin the effect of a short haircut. Ask your hairdresser to help you choose a hairstyle that’s suitable for you given these criteria.”

Once you’ve determined your hair type and hair growth, you need to decide whether or not you want volume. “People with curly or frizzy hair have to deal with volume every day. The question is, do you want to embrace the volume or tame it? Answering this question will help you find your ideal haircut. There are no rules, it’s simply a question of preference.

Our tip: if you like to vary your hairstyles, keep a bit of length. That way you can mix things up by wearing your hair up and down and using different effects.
