Hairstyle

Margot’s craziest hair change yet!

The 80s have fascinated me since I was a teenager. However, it’s difficult to have an 80s inspired hairstyle at the moment, as the current trends have nothing to do with this era. But, one day in winter 2013, I saw a young woman in the street with a mullet haircut, which inspired me to give it a go!

I’ve always been known for my long hair, but one day I decided that it was time to take the plunge and go for a new look that matched my personality. Until now, I hadn’t thought that short hair with long ends would really suit me, but thanks to that girl I saw in the street (and a few magazine pictures of the look), I decided it was now or never! During my hair salon appointment, I made sure to tell my stylist that I wasn’t going for a total grunge look, but more of a rebel twist. I decided against dyeing my hair a dark colour, and kept my natural light highlights to give my mullet a rock’n’roll feel. I’d never had my hair coloured before and didn’t want to go for two style changes at once.

Today, I’m over the moon with the result of my mullet cut. It’s true that whilst I have short hair, which is easy to style, I still have volume thanks to the longer lengths underneath. I’ve been looking after my hair using Jean Louis David Volume Therapy range at home. My hair is revitalised and so much easier to style. To style my mullet, I use a mattifying hair paste that allows me to structure and sculpt my hair the way I want, without a shiny finish.
