Looking after platinum blond hair

Platinum blond needs regular care in order to maintain its radiance right from the start. Before going for this colour, bear in mind that it requires lots of attention and the use of lots of hair products. You need to be sure you can be bothered to look after it every day.

Platinum blond is verging on white, so it takes a lot of lightening steps to get there. “If platinum blond is neglected, it quickly turns dull. This colour is only attractive when it is radiant. To stop it from turning yellow, make sure you look after it at home. One in every five washes, wash your hair using a blue shampoo to avoid any yellowy tones.”

In addition to home treatments, visit your hairdresser regularly. “Your hairdresser knows all the tricks to restore your hair’s radiance. After using so much bleach, your hair will only look good if you take care of it. Only go platinum blond if you have a medium to light colour base: this colour is extreme and requires a number of processes that tend to dry out hair before reaching the desired result.”

Our tip: Platinum blond looks gorgeous as highlights with dark roots. “By avoiding touching the roots, you also avoid the risk of burns and overheating. A platinum blond looks so much better with a bit of depth and when the roots are left alone. Colour on the mid-lengths and ends is a lot more doable, and is less harmful for your hair.”
