Is the turban set to replace the headband?

Kate Moss never fails to impress with her fashion sense and style credentials. Whereas she was working the turban way back in 2009, us mere mortals are only just starting to realise the trend-potential of this unique accessory in 2014! So will the turban be replacing our headbands? Let’s take a closer look at the hair accessory that is set to be big news in the coming months.

The turban trend. We’re thinking you never believed the day would come where you’d be wearing a turban, right? However, right now the turban is becoming more and more popular with women in search of hot new trends, eager to get there first. Worn in winter to keep your ears and head warm, this headgear is the perfect accessory to keep you looking stylish whilst keeping warm too. Easy! But, how exactly do you wear and position the turban?

Wearing the turbanCreating the perfect turban is an art in itself! Whereas headbands are relatively simple to style, the turban requires skill and patience. To begin, decide what type of hairstyle you are going to wear underneath; up or down? The positioning of the turban all depends on this, as your hair acts as the foundation to getting the turban right. Kate Moss famously wore her turban with her hair rolled up inside it, showing of her bone structure, however you might prefer to wear your hair loose for a more feminine look similar to the hairband.

Turban VS headband. The headband is a great starting point if you’re looking to jazz up your hair accessories and add a focal point to your style. It’s the perfect look for summer thanks to its bohemian-chic vibe. As for the turban, the stylish pros favour this statement look which is tricky to master. Stick to the headband if you’re afraid of attracting attention, or take the plunge and opt for the turban if you think you’re fashion-forward enough. The turban can look very elegant and refined when worn correctly and with the right outfit, reminiscent of the 20s and bohemian style, but this style isn’t for everyone.

So, give the turban a go! Why not? Just don’t throw away your headband just yet…
