How to wear bright hair

This season our hairstyles are a key part of our overall look and, since we love keeping on top the trends, it looks like this summer’s all about bright hair! Coloured sections, highlights, all-over colour, there’s something for every taste, in every colour. This summer, we’re going to be seeing a lot of bright hair, no doubt about it. But how should it be worn? Here are the answers.

Minimalist trend. Keen on the bright trend but don’t want to go the whole hog? Coloured highlights are the perfect solution for you. Pink, blue, yellow, these are worn like extensions. Coloured pieces will enhance your face and your outfit – which should be understated yet match the colours in your hair. Opted for pink? Team with a pink bag or bracelet. A bit look Oscar de la Renta’s catwalk models.

Seapunk trend. To jump on the bright bandwagon without having to colour all of your hair, opt for the coloured fringe! This provides a contrast with the rest of your hair and gives your look a retro vibe. Why not match your hair with your style with the seapunk trend. The little girl in you will love wearing metallics, glitter and retro prints! Take your inspiration from Anna Sui’s catwalk show.

Romantic trend. If you’re after little hints of bright colours, go for highlights. Highlights blend in with the rest of your hair for a subtle result. A perfect match for the romantic trend, with its lace and flowers and will tone down an overly feminine look, like on the Peter Som catwalk.

All-over trend. Want to go bright all over? Maybe not forever, but why not for a night out? You’ll need to be a bit of a daredevil to sport bright hair every day as this one’s not for the fainthearted! Steer clear of the boldest shades and use a temporary colour if it’s your first attempt. Wear your hair up to break away from the punk effect.

Our tip: Bright hair isn’t always easy to wear, whether in coloured pieces, highlights or all-over. Start with a dip dye or slightly faded shades to get used to wearing an unusual hue.
