How to keep your chignon in place all day long

The chignon is one of this season’s key trends. Anyone can wear it. All you have to do is follow a few rules to make sure it lasts all day!

To make sure your chignon stays in place all day, avoid washing your hair on the day you plan on creating the style. “A chignon stays in better in “dirty” hair, or hair that has been washed the day before. If your hair is too clean, use a dry shampoo to help it stick better.”

Chignons can be created on all types of haircuts. “Though if you want a high chignon you’ll need fairly long hair. But once your hair reaches your shoulders, you can create a low chignon using a hair tie to hold it in place.”

Hairspray is of course very important for holding your chignon in place, but choose it wisely! Choose a hairspray that can be easily brushed out. If you decide to take your hair down during the day, you need to be able to brush it out to avoid that dreaded stiff-looking effect. Dry shampoo is a good alternative to hairspray. This leaves hair matte and adds texture, meaning that it holds more easily. Spray it onto your hair before creating your chignon. Powder can also be used, but sparingly to avoid it sticking to your hair. Any products that leave your hair the slightest bit “dirty” are a good idea if you want your hair to hold better.”

Our tip: To make sure your chignon stays in place, create a base with a few sections of hair and hair grips. Create a solid base that you can add the rest of your hair to. Choose larger hair grips the thicker your hair is.
