How to create the Heidi braid from the Max Azria fashion show?

New York Spring-Summer 2016 Fashion Week took place last September…A chance to revisit a hairstyle which stood out this week and which has proved to be a firm favorite amongst the editorial staff. Spotted at the Herve Leger by Max Azria fashion show, this style can be easily created step by step.

Step 1: straighten your hair

Work with perfectly clean and dry hair. Then spray your hair with Long Lasting Straightening mist: this treatment is ideal for protecting your hair against heat, whilst facilitating styling. Once applied, gently comb out your hair. Then, using a clip to hold it in place, start straightening the hair around the nape of your neck. Are your straighteners at the right temperature? Then you can begin! Proceed section by section. Going over it once will be enough if your device is at the right temperature.

Step 2: form the Heidi braid

Mark out a clear side parting, then separate out one section of your hair which will be used to make the braid. Start forming the braid ensuring it is tight to your head, in the style of a parting braid. To do this, divide this section up into three bits: pass the right strand over the middle strand, then do the same with the left strand. Continue doing this by adding in new strands of hair each time. Once you reach your forehead, continue forming the braid around the hairline going down to the nape of the neck. Finally, hold it in place using a clear hair tie.

Step 3: tie your hair up into a ponytail

All that’s left to do now is tie up all of your hair into a low ponytail, making sure it is sufficiently tight. A little tip: use a hair tie which is the same color as your hair so you can’t see it. Allow your hair to fall down at the back. To finish, spray on Fix Spray for maximum hold.
