You’ve always been tempted to try short hair, right? However, it’s often scary to take the plunge and actually go for it! You like your long hair and aren’t ready to commit to a haircut yet. Luckily, imitation hairstyles are on-trend this season. So why not try out faux short hair, even if yours is long!
 
The ‘faux’ trend. You already know how to create a faux bob. Making a faux boyish style, however, it’s not a look you’ve attempted yet. But, the concept for this look is very similar to the faux bob: create the illusion of a much shorter hairstyle. More difficult than the faux bob, the boyish crop makes hair appear super-short. The style is perfected with a few side whispy strands and a loose strand near the forehead.
 
Who suits the ‘faux’ trend? Anyone who has been dying to try out short hair! This ‘faux’ version of the style may tempt you to get the real thing, so trying out this look is a good test to see whether short hair will suit you. Don’t worry about this style being boring, as this is certainly not the case! You can vary the style, regardless of how short is may appear.
 
Create a ‘faux’ boyish style. After washing your hair, make a side parting. Dry your hair, taking care to dry it straight. Make a tight, low-slung ponytail at the base of the neck. It shouldn’t be too obvious that you have your hair pulled back into a ponytail, so that nobody can see the telltale sign that this is a ‘faux’ boyish style. Try leaving a strand of hair loose on one side of your face to add a small feminine touch. To keep your style in place, clip up the ends with bobby pins to the back of the head. Make your style last longer by spraying an even layer of hairspray all over.
