How can I get shiny locks without a hardened texture?

Every woman wants luscious, shiny locks. Although some are blessed with glossy locks at birth, others need to use products to enhance their hair’s natural radiance. However, can you really achieve this without the dreaded hardened texture? The pros reveal all.

Yes, it’s possible! ‘The hardened texture linked to shine-enhancing products is down to the fact that they aren’t being used for their correct purpose. Avoid products which promise to hold your hair in place, as these tend to make hair stiffened and greasy with over-use’.

It’s unlikely that your hair will become hard or stiff if you use products which only aim to add shine, not hold. ‘Again, it all depends on the type of product you use. Ideally, for a high-shine finish that is soft and supple, opt for a serum. It will add shine to your locks and has no fixing properties whatsoever’.

You should always remember to avoid applying high-shine products directly to your roots. ‘This area can be prone to oiliness, so keep any shine-enhancing products to the mid-lengths and ends to avoid this hair no-no. However, if you’re going for the wet look, serum is the perfect way to complete your style’.

Our advice: At Jean Louis David, stylists always reach for Shine Spray when aiming to increase shine but minimise any rigidness. This lightweight spray is non-sticky and creates a beautiful sheen in one single spray!
