Hair jewellery, from the catwalks to the high street?

We’re all familiar with XXL hair jewellery, but in the form of a hair slide or headband. For summer 2013, XXL jewellery comes in the form of a headpiece that covers the hair and forehead, teamed with XXL earrings. Really pushing the boundaries! Can this trend make it from the catwalks to the high street? We take a closer look.

XXL jewellery spotted on the catwalks. Stealing the show this season, hair jewellery screams opulence. It needs to shine – lots! XXL head jewellery is all about excess for an all-eyes-on-me (and only me!) effect. So forget hiding it in your hair. Hair jewellery should be worn loud and proud to show off your glamorous, elegant side.

Which elements to keep. Unless you’re heading to a fancy-dress party, the Manish Arora head jewellery (see photo) isn’t particularly suitable for everyday wear. However, its colourful, boho vibes are a great source of inspiration for an Indian feel. Why not choose a more subtle headband or headpiece in rainbow shades to go all out with your summer outfits, a great way to complement your face.

How to wear it. For a chic and boho look, leave your hair loose – either wavy or straight –and add your choice of hair jewellery. Place it proudly on your head to crown your parted or unparted hairstyles for an original look. A great way to give yourself and your hair a boost!
