Hair and sports: advice from the pros

Sports and glamour don’t always go hand in hand! Sport involves effort and therefore sweat. It’s unavoidable. But to make sure your hair doesn’t get in your way when you’re working out, follow our advice.

Must-have accessories. Time for your jog or your yoga class? Get prepared so that your hair doesn’t annoy you. You don’t want to have to be re-styling your hair every 5 minutes! “To make sure your hair stays in place, use bungee bands, hair pins and headbands.” The best hairstyles to wear when practising sport are usually up-dos. Steer clear of metal hair accessories to avoid damaging your hair.

Styling products. Hair accessories alone won’t stop your flyaway hairs from breaking loose! So take a can of hairspray with you to hold your hair in place once you’ve created your style. “Also consider styling waxes to fix your hair in place and create ultra-trendy wet-look styles.

Sporty styles. The best hairstyle to choose remains the ponytail. Practical and easy to create, it keeps your hair out of your face with style. “Take a flat brush and use it to pull your hair back. For a slick effect, apply a small amount of styling wax to the top of your head, distributing with your fingers.” Some of you prefer not to wear your hair up. “But do make sure that the front sections are set in place so that they don’t keep falling in front of your eyes and blocking your view!” To do this, either use a hair slide or braid the front sections and fix them at the side of your head.
