Get the low-down on this season’s low-slung ponytail

The low ponytail is one of those styles you knew how to create in kindergarten. It’s a timeless trend that never goes out of fashion, used by women who want to look simple and stylish, yet with minimal effort. Whereas this summer, the ponytail was worn on the top of the head, next season it’s the low-slung pony that is big news. Follow our easy steps to re-create the look.

The trend. Bombshell volume, slicked back and centre-parted, the low ponytail has so many different varieties to choose from. The most important thing to remember is that it must be tied at the base of the neck, no higher. Hanging down your back, or slung over your shoulder, the low ponytail can even act as a sort of necklace. Jewelry; step aside, hair is taking centre-stage.

Who can wear the low-ponytail ? Women with busy, hectic lives who want to look stylish ! The low-ponytail allows you to have a simple, chic look every day. Whichever style you go for, be it dishevelled and voluminous, a slicked back pony or a even poker straight for a glam night out, this look never fails to impress. The style works particularly well on mid-length to long hair, and is this winter’s must-have look.

How can I make this look work for me ? For an original hairstyle that can take you from day to night, try a sophisticated version of the low ponytail. Separate your hair into three sections, one on each side of your parting, and a section from the back part of your hair. Tie up the back section, then backcomb the two side sections to give your hair more volume. When both sides have been backcombed, sweep them up to the same height as the back ponytail. Wrap them around the hair tie, hiding it from view, to bring a touch of class to your look. Secure these sections with bobby pins and voila ! Your on-trend style is complete.
