From the runway to reality: the feather-look wig

Runway shows always provide us with exiting, and sometimes surprising, trends. Although the majority of these are wearable and adaptable to everyday life, there are some that totally break the rules and fail to make it as a sought-after look. Speaking of flop hairstyles, the feather-look wig, recently spotted on the Manish Arora runway, is dividing opinion!

As far as first appearances go, the wig doesn’t appear to be a wearable day-to-day look. The bright white color is difficult to create and the cut itself is asymmetric and quirky. Once you understand the thinking behind this style, you can begin to appreciate it somewhat. In fact, stylist Josephine Baker wanted to create a futuristic look with retro undertones. We’re certainly tempted to try out this look with a temporary wig for a day or two! On the Manish Arora catwalk, each hairstyle gave the illusion of a bird about to take off mid-flight.

Want to recreate the look for yourself? Keep this style for a fancy dress party rather than debuting your new look at work! To do this, find a wig with similar tones to the styles spotted on the runway. Sculpt strands with gel, then use a round brush and blow dry hair to give it movement and a shine. Finish off your look with Shine Spray to add a glossy sheen to your locks. Voila, your very own bird-feather style. Just don’t attempt wearing this daring cut to work or in your local park!
