From runway to reality: the eye-obscuring fringe

Bohemian hairstyles have been one of Spring-Summer 2014’s biggest and most popular trends. Braids, messy ponytails and wavy lengths are some of the most in-demand hairstyles this season. However, are you ready to take your look to the next level? Can the eye-obscuring fringe make it from the runway into our daily lives? Let’s take a closer look.

The eye-obscuring fringe spotted on the catwalk. On the Emilio Pucci catwalk (pictured), models were spotted wearing long wavy lengths in soft curls. The texture of each girl’s hair was worked to perfection, looking radiant and healthy. Partings were brushed to one side and gave way to a long front section which obscured one eye. The runway models must have been extra vigilant whilst strutting their stuff with only eye available! The fringe section was just as soft and relaxed as the rest of the style, and tumbled effortlessly down the wearer’s face.

Can the look be worn day-to-day? After evaluating this look we say…yes! Of course, the eye-obscuring section at the front of the style will become annoying from time to time, however, you can create a more mysterious and alluring look…what’s not to love? When styled properly, the front section of this look should fall naturally down the front of the face and cover one eye, adding a feminine touch to this hairstyle. We’re placing bets that this is going to be a must-have look this summer!

How to create. Once you have washed your hair, dry with your head tipped upside down to create maximum volume. Next, use a fine tooth comb to part hair to one side. This doesn’t need to be especially neat, as you should be aiming for a natural finish that doesn’t look over-styled. If your hair is already naturally soft and wavy, leave as it is. For those of us who aren’t as lucky, tong hair with a curling iron to add some waves and curl into your style, echoing this season’s beachy waves trend. The final touch is added with the front loose section. Bring hair down onto the face, covering one eye on the same side as your parting. Spray all over evenly with hairspray to give your style long-lasting hold.
