Flamboyant red

Until today, redheads have never really received the attention they deserve. Blondes have always stolen the limelight, whether natural or not. But now the tables seem to be turning.

Going red. Want to go all out? Then this flamboyant and sophisticated colour is for you! With its sensual, provocative side, this colour is not for the faint-hearted! Luckily for you, there are many different shades of red to choose from, depending on the effect you’re going for, and the colour of your eyes or skin.

Dark hair or olive skin. You should steer towards warmer tones and opt for copper, bronze and mahogany shades. These are perfectly compatible with your natural hair and skin colour and will look fantastic. If you’re not quite ready to take the plunge, test the waters with different reds on a few pieces of hair or subtle highlights. Why not try Jean Louis David’s Sunlight service which plays around with light and shadow to leave you with gorgeous hair that anyone would kill for.

Fair hair or pale skin. You can try anything, but why not go for a true, orange red. This is perfect for bringing out blue and green eyes. If you want to be less of a daredevil, go for a strawberry blonde with its subtle hints of red.

Give your colour the pampering it deserves. To preserve the beauty of your colour as long as possible, look after your hair by using shampoos and conditioners for coloured hair. Go for products rich in vitamin E to protect your colour and make sure it lasts.

The right make-up. Reveal the femme fatale in you. Take it to the next level with a matte, red lipstick. To enhance your complexion, use coral, peach or orangey blushers. For the eyes, avoid too much mascara but be as indulgent as you like with eyeshadows. For a romantic look, opt for pastel colours. To do sultry and smouldering, copper or bronze shades are perfect.
