60s trend: wear yours with loose lengths

Hairstyles from the 60s such as the exaggerated chignon or sixties ponytail are just as on-trend as they are timeless. But they aren’t the only styles stealing the show. Discover another way to style your hair into a 60s look whilst leaving your lengths loose.

The trend. This trend was spotted on the Felder Felder Spring-Summer runway at London Fashion Week. Models were styled with super long lengths that were worn loose and given structure thanks to a center parting. Locks were glossy and featured statement volume. This look takes direct inspiration from the 60s and is great styled with waves, adding movement and a lightweight feel.

Get the runway look. Make like the runway models and create an all-over retro feel that is bang on trend. Work the doe-eyed liner and pair with your best A-line skirt, high-waisted shorts and oversized sunnies! What we love about this style is that it is perfect for any occasion, day or night.

Step-by-step tutorial. Start by washing hair with Hydration and Suppleness shampoo. Your aim should be to create as much shine as possible. Dry carefully before dividing into two equal sections. Create a neat center parting and apply a small amount of gel to the scalp area. Allow your lengths to hang loose, free from product. Next, backcomb your roots at the crown for an ultra-round shape. Finally, add a layer of hairspray to keep everything in place and bring your lengths to the front of your shoulders for a natural-looking finish.
