Hairstyle

The short fringe

Up until now, you’ve always thought of a fringe as the perfect way to rejuvenate or customise your haircut. This was before the arrival of the short fringe, which is ready to get your hair in order for military-inspired or neo-punk hairstyles – two of this Autumn-Winter’s key trends. Will you be tempted?

The mini trend. Spotted on the catwalks (and now on many celebs), the short fringe is going to be THE fringe of this Autumn-Winter season. The short fringe has been seen at Versace, among other places, straight, blunt and thick. Only a few centimetres long, the mini-fringe stops halfway down the forehead and is worn with long, straight hair, defining the face for a highly structured cut. Here, the result is graphic for an almost military style.

Who for? Not sure whether to get it? This short fringe might not suit everyone. We recommend the short fringe for squarer faces, rather than round faces. It works best on mid-length or long hair. On short hair, this fringe could leave you looking more like a monk than a fashionista… The short fringe also looks better on straight hair rather than curly or frizzy hair.

How to wear the short fringe. Short hair? Forget it. If you’ve got long hair, go for it. To stick with the military or neo-punk trend that’s set to be a big hit this season, wear the short fringe with straight, long hair. Straighten your hair using straighteners, not forgetting your fringe. Spray a layer of hairspray to hold your hair in place. Hair frames the face for a perfectly orderly result. For a more retro effect, wear the short fringe on mid-length hair, crimped using thin curling tongs. Keep the fringe straight. Also try a straight fringe with a strict chignon.
