Autumn-Winter 2014: should you go dark?

Autumn-Winter is generally associated with going darker when it comes to hair colors, and staying away from warmer, more summery shades. And, it looks like this year is no exception to the rule! Let’s take a look at this season’s hottest color trends.

Dark colors are top of the trends this season at Jean Louis David. ‘The Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 color collections take direct inspiration from culinary delights: Mocha, espresso, chocolate and cool chestnut are the must-have colors for fall and winter. Each of these brown hues are rich in colour pigmentation and create a vibrant, glossy-looking color’.

Going darker doesn’t require a certain type of hairstyle. ‘At Jean Louis David, hairstyles are much more layered and graduated than seen previously. This instantly gives the wearer more volume and body, whilst creating a more original take on classic cuts. Layers will encourage natural movement, perfect for setting off your new color’.

However, you don’t have to change your color to a darker shade. ‘You will also find blonde shades, copper tones and even orange hues. Just because the weather is dull, doesn’t mean your hair needs to be! However, darker tones do tend to become more popular come September’.

Our advice: The thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t go for a block color. Natural hair colors are never harsh and uniform. Subtle differences in shades between strands will give your color more dimension, which is extremely important this season.
